This past Sunday, we recognized the International Day of the Girl. This day brings attention to the unique challenges girls face all over the world and celebrates everything good about being young and female. The Ripken Foundation’s I’m Great program also addresses the obstacles young girls face in today’s world and builds a community of young leaders that will break social barriers.
Our goal is to develop new ways to help young girls gain access to the necessary tools and resources to live healthy, productive lives. The I’m GREAT program enhances young girls' ability to be successful adults through mentorship and a timely and relevant curriculum. Our curriculum focuses on respecting yourself, others, and the world around you.
Throughout this program, young girls will understand why the decisions they make now will influence their lives in the future. The I’m GREAT curriculum shows young girls how to be Real, Reflective, Respectful, Responsible, Resilient, and Remarkable – we call it the Six R’s.
