In partnership with UnitedHealthcare (UHC), the Ripken Foundation resumed our Community Enhancement Project efforts on the Team8 Tour that revitalizes communities across the country. One of our first in-person stops on the tour this year since the pandemic was hosted over two days at LBJ Early College High School (LBJECHS) in Austin, TX. UHC volunteers helped renovate the LBJECHS weight room with new equipment, built out new flooring for a team meeting room, and gifted new furniture for team meeting room and the coaches' offices. LBJECHS coaches and students also took place in a fitness training on the new equipment and UHC volunteers were led by the district's culinary expert in preparing a healthy meal for everyone to enjoy at the end of the event. Over 100 mentors, teachers, and volunteers helped with the event that impacted over 840 at-risk youth.
