Ripken Foundation Programs Having an Impact in Kern County

The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s program staff are still hard at work despite the rise in COVID cases over the last few weeks. We safely hosted a Badges for Baseball and Healthy Lifestyles clinic at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County. Over 100 kids and six mentors including volunteers from the Bakersfield Police and Fire departments participated in a multi-sport clinic with a K9 presentation. To highlight the importance of eating healthy, chefs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County led the kids through a nutrition activity from the Ripken Playbook and they completed the “ants on a log" activity that is featured in our Healthy Lifestyles program.
