Thanks to Harford County Public Schools (HCPS), the Ripken Foundation has installed our first STEM Center in HCPS at Hall’s Cross Roads Elementary School in Aberdeen, MD. A ribbon cutting was held at the elementary school to celebrate this achievement, attended by CRSF staff, students, and school faculty.
One student in attendance expressed their excitement for the new center, stating “I can’t believe it’s Tuesday! I’ve been waiting for this day for two weeks!” Encouraging students like this to get excited about STEM learning is a big part of our mission. By showing youth that STEM can be educational and fun at the same time, we are able to prepare them for a future in a job market that is rapidly growing with STEM opportunities. The students might even find a passion within the field, like another youth in attendance. “I want to be an aerospace engineer when I grow up, so this will help me learn,” they said.
