The Ripken Foundation and Kansas RBI hosted a Badges for Baseball Multi-Sport Clinic for 60 kids from the local Kansas City, KS community. Participating youth got to enjoy sport-themed stations led by volunteer coaches and local law enforcement. At the beginning of the event, both the Kansas City Kansas Police and Fire Departments held presentations allowing kids the opportunity to explore the vehicles being displayed, which was followed by a Q&A session with youth participants. The Fire Department showcased a fire truck on-site, and the Police unit showcased motorcycles and a rescue vehicle beside the field. Due to the success of the event, youth unaffiliated with the Kansas RBI program inquired on the ways to get involved with the program moving forward, and the event was featured on KCTV. These clinics can be impactful for the community, not only giving youth a fun and entertaining way to get active, but also provides them with a positive connection with law enforcement.
