The Ripken Foundation was joined by Hartford PAL for a Badges for Baseball clinic at Annie Fisher field in Connecticut. 175 youth came to play kickball, quick-ball, and dodgeball with local PD. During the clinic, youth were also treated to many different demonstrations, including a helicopter, the negotiation department, drones, maritime boat, firefighters, an ambulance, and emotional support K-9. The Badges for Baseball program was devised to deter juvenile delinquency by targeting America’s most vulnerable youth, including those in low-income families and single-parent homes, children of parents on active military duty, and youth with disabilities and helps repair contentious relationships between inner-city youth and law enforcement using team sports to teach valuable life lessons.
