At the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, we believe that female mentorship is essential for guiding at-risk girls towards healthy, positive futures. Our female mentorship program, I'm GREAT, enhances young girls' abilities to become responsible, confident, and resilient adults. Over the last five years, our I'm GREAT program has been implemented at 23 program sites, impacting over 6,000 at-risk girls with the help of 132 mentors. The I'm GREAT program curriculum consists of six lesson plans based on important life skills: Be Real, Reflective, Respectful, Responsible, Resilient, and Remarkable. Program sites also receive new sports equipment and gear as well as virtual and in-person training for youth mentors, provided by the Ripken Foundation program team. A select number of girls from our year-round programs even get the opportunity to attend Ripken Summer Camp, a one-week, all-expenses paid overnight summer camp in Maryland. With the help of our amazing program partners, we hope to positively impact even more at-risk girls through female mentorship.
