Team8 Tour - 2017

Dec 06, 2017

In 2017, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation once again collaborated with United Healthcare as part of their Do Good. Live Well. campaign to host the Team8 Tour. Along with the Home Depot Foundation and CBS EcoMedia, the Team8 Tour aims to strengthen communities in need across the nation. By working with schools, the Team8 Tour aims to build healthy communities. Each schools needs are different, but the goal is the same - having needs met to help students learn and grow in a healthy community. Some stops on the Team8 Tour saw the construction of raised beds in the school garden, while others saw the construction of a weight room, and so many other great projects along the way. Each stop consisted of projects that directly benefit that school to improve the lives of students and make for a healthy community. But the partnership doesn’t end when the volunteers leave. During the event, Team8 Tour volunteers teach staff and students how to use their new equipment, or how to prepare a healthy meal with the food they are growing. The lessons taught last well beyond the time the Team8 Tour is on site.

The Team8 Tour for 2017 reached youth in: Baltimore, MD, Imokalee, FL, Greensboro, NC, High Point, NC, New York City, NY, Jersey City, NJ, Indianapolis, IN, and Dallas, TX. The final stop of the Team8 Tour in Dallas is happening this week.
