Have you ever considered a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)? Some STEM careers you may be familiar with – doctor, engineer, or scientist – but there are many others that you may not even know exist! In today’s STEM Play of the Day from the Ripken Playbook, you will create a STEM Careers Alphabet to teach you about new jobs in STEM and inspire you to start thinking about your future!
Materials
- Paper
- Pen or pencil
STEM Careers Alphabet
Write the alphabet vertically down the left side of your paper. Beside each letter, write the name of a STEM career beginning with that letter.
For example:
A – Astronaut
B – Botonist
C -- Chef...
Some letters will be trickier than others! Don’t be afraid to ask a family member or friend for help, or try doing some research on your own!
Questions
- Which letter was the trickiest to think of a career for?
- Which career seems most interesting to you? Why?
- Did you learn about a new career in STEM you had never heard of before? What is it? Explain.
