September 29, 2015, will be an amazing day for a couple reasons. But with your help, it could be amazing for a couple hundred or even thousand reasons…
One
September 29 will be our second annual Cal, Sr. Day, a day when we honor Cal, Sr.—the mentor who inspired players of all ages and inspired the Foundation’s mission of helping to build character and teach critical life lessons to at-risk young people living in America’s most distressed communities through baseball- and softball-themed programs.
Two
Five years ago, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation set the ambitious goal of building 50 Youth Development Parks in five years. On September 29th, we will be in Chicago to cut the ribbon on our 50th Youth Development Park!
Infinity and Beyond…
Last year we thought, how cool would it be to celebrate Cal, Sr. and all of our mentors together with all our partners across the country? Since cloning and teleportation have yet to be realistic options, we invited everyone we worked with last year to join us in celebration by hosting one of these events in their own communities on that day and sharing on social media:
- Play Quickball at your organization
- Organize a clean-up effort at your organization or in your community
- Coordinate a baseball/softball game for children with special needs
Whether you joined us last year or whether you are a new friend, we would like to invite all of you to participate this year with an event of your own on Tuesday, September 29th.
Can we count you in? Please share your plans with us!
