Remembering our friends and fallen heroes

May 15, 2013

Today is a special day for our friends in the law enforcement community as they honor the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty.  According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, on average, one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States every 57 hours.  Since the first known line-of-duty death in 1791, more than 19,000 U.S. law enforcement officers have made the ultimate sacrifice.

It has been an honor for us at the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to partner with so many wonderful law enforcement officers around the country through Badges for Baseball.  Your dedication and professionalism have enriched our programs and the lives of the kids we serve. Today we honor you and thank you for your service and commitment to our communities.

If you would like to share a tribute, please do so in the comments section below.
