This week, we are very excited to be rolling out Uncommon Athlete* in Baltimore City with the generous support of UnitedHealthCare. Student-athletes at five Baltimore City middle and high schools will find out what it takes to become Uncommon Athletes. After the presentations this week, they will continue working on becoming Uncommon Athletes with their coaches and their teams.
On Thursday, we will dive right in with building uncommon relationships and leading with uncommon empathy by cleaning up a local Boys & Girls Club, thanks to generous support from UnitedHealthCare, the Home Depot Foundation, and Aaron’s. Volunteers from these companies, our local Badges for Baseball partners, and even some student-athletes (schedules permitting) will team up in revitalizing the club’s facility for Baltimore kids. Home Depot and the Baltimore Community ToolBank will be supplying everyone with tools for the day. Volunteers from UnitedHealthCare will also help us deliver packages of brand new sports equipment to the five participating schools.
*In July, we unveiled the Uncommon Athlete program and gave a couple hundred uncommon coaches a sneak preview in Castle Rock, Colorado. But in case you missed it, being an #UncommonAthlete means investing the PRICE:
- Develop Uncommon Perseverance
- Build Uncommon Relationships
- Practice Uncommon Integrity
- Choose Uncommon Courage
- Lead with Uncommon Empathy
