Thanks to Group1001, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation hosted a Badges for Baseball clinic on Tuesday, April 19 and a track and field clinic on Friday, April 22 at LBJ High School for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. On Tuesday, youth participated in baseball and softball skills and drills that were led by the Austin Police Department. Youth were also treated to a K9 presentation by the Austin Police Department to learn more about their K9 unit. In the afternoon, youth participated in a MLB pitch, hit, and run event hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. On Friday, youth took part in a track and field stations led by the Austin Police Department to learn high jump, long jump, and sprinting techniques. Special guests, Michelle Carter, 2016 Olympian Gold Medalist in shot put, and Kori Carter, 2017 World Champion in the 400m hurdles, coached youth in their respected track and field events.
