I cannot believe two weeks already passed since our first week of #CRSFCamp this summer! This week, our intern team looks back at what a fun week we had. Here's what they had to say!
Our program team had a blast working the first Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Summer Camp of 2018! We spent time playing games, coaching, and working with kids from youth organizations all over the country. We had kids and chaperones from California, Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, and Mississippi. During camp, the kids had the opportunity to work with law enforcement officers and college baseball and softball players from all over. The campers learned skills while having a blast interacting with their law enforcement officers from many different agencies! There were drill stations, a Quickball station, and we rounded out the day by playing scrimmage games against their fellow campers.
Our campers had the opportunity to hear from several different law enforcement agencies, specifically the US Marshals, Montgomery County’s motorcycle unit, Anne Arundel County’s Helicopter unit, and Montgomery County’s K9 unit. The campers were able to ask the officers questions about their work and saw first-hand the tools they use in their everyday work. On the last day of camp, former Maryland basketball great Ernie Graham spoke about life choices and the importance of staying on the right path. Our second evening presentation was from the Travis Manion Foundation who spoke about the importance of character and the foundation’s motto “If Not Me Then Who?”.
While the week went quickly, and it was sad to see our campers and chaperones leave, our program team had a blast, and we can’t wait until our next camps in August! Check out some pictures from our fun week below!
Come back next week to learn about our intern team who are doing great things for the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation this summer!
