The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation recently built a brand new, state-of-the-art Youth Development Park in University Place, Washington. Cirque Park is an inclusive playground created in partnership with the University Place Parks and Recreation Foundation (UPPRF) to provide a safe place for kids of all abilities to play and have fun.
In celebration of the new Park, the Foundation was joined by a number of notable people, including State Senator T’wina Nobles, State Representative Mari Leavitt, and University Place City Council Members Denise McCluskey, Frank Boykin, and Melanie Grassi for a ribbon cutting. Several representatives from our partners at UP Parks and Rec were also in attendance.
The playground features a cushioned, rubberized surface that enables those in wheelchairs or with impaired vision to safely access the play equipment. In addition, the playground has ramps and accessible swings and play components that support diverse sensory needs and give every child a chance to play.
