Chris Niemczewski is Managing Principal and founder of Marshfield Associates. Marshfield is based in Washington, D.C., and manages about $8 billion, including a well-regarded mutual fund, MRFOX.
Chris emigrated with his family from England when he was six. One of his first memories of America is of standing in his yard and looking through a chain-link fence at older boys playing a mysterious new game, which turned out to be baseball. He has been a huge fan ever since.
Chris attended Swarthmore College and, after a year-long interlude working in a steel mill, Columbia Business School. After proving to himself that he couldn’t be happy working for anyone else, he founded Marshfield in 1989. Having benefitted from the generosity of Swarthmore’s financial aid program, Chris gave back by serving on Swarthmore’s investment committee for 20 years, including eight years as Chair. As a member of the board of Martha’s Table in Washington, D.C., Chris works to help give the District’s underserved communities access to healthy food, high-quality education, and other support.
Chris and his wife Elise have four grown children between them, and three grandchildren (so far!), whom he loves with all his heart.
