Pat Whalen
Pat Whalen is the Chief Investment Officer and leads Asset Liability Management (ALM), Hedging, & Investments for Transamerica. Pat’s role includes oversight of the teams dedicated to ALM analytics and systems, portfolio management, hedging, and determining the profile of general account investments. Pat is also the former Global Head of Equity Trading at Lehman Brothers, where his responsibilities included risk management, recruitment, technology investment, financial reporting, as well as quantitative trading & research for the Equities Division. He previously led the build of Morgan Stanley’s equity derivative business and served as Global Head of Derivatives Trading. Pat earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, with a concentration in finance and international business from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Pat currently serves a Board Member of the Transamerica Foundation here in Baltimore. He also serves as Trustee of the Walters Art Museum and has served on the Boards of the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and Catholic Charities of New York, amongst many other community Boards focused on healthcare, scholarship, poverty, and youth athletics. Pat and his wife, Barbara, are the proud parents of six adult children in their blended family, and any day now will be grandparents for the first time.
